The First 30 Days: Embracing the Newborn Bubble

Updated: Apr 26

Those first blurry, beautiful, and sometimes bewildering days at home with your

newborn are unlike anything else. It's a time of intense joy, overwhelming love, and a whole lot of adjustment! Here's what to expect, things to embrace, and tips to help you navigate those precious first 30 days with your newborn.

Things to Accept

  1. Exhaustion: Sleep deprivation is real. Accept that rest will come in small bursts, and you'll learn to function on surprisingly little sleep. It won't last forever!

  2. The Emotional Rollercoaster: Hormones, lack of sleep, and the sheer magnitude of it all can lead to mood swings. Be kind to yourself, and don't be afraid to express what you're feeling, whether it's joy, tears, or frustration.

  3. The Mess: Your once-tidy house might resemble organized chaos. Lower those standards, mama. Dishes and laundry can wait, and there's no shame in asking for help tidying things up.

  4. Help is a Necessity: Whether it's from your partner, family, friends, or hired help, accept all offers of assistance without guilt. Let others help with meals, errands, or just holding the baby while you recharge.

Things to Do

1-Bond with Your Baby: Skin-to-skin contact, talking, singing, and snuggles are the priorities. Soak in every sweet moment, from those tiny yawns to the first smiles.

2-Focus on Feeding: Whether nursing or bottle-feeding, it's a learning curve

for both you and the baby. Get support if needed and be patient with yourself and your little one.

3-Rest When You Can: Sleep when your baby sleeps, even if it's just a quick nap on the couch. A few minutes of rest can work wonders.

4-Prioritize Self-Care: Even if it's just a warm shower, eating regular meals, and drinking plenty of water, take care of your basic needs. Your body is recovering, and you need nourishment!

5-Get Some Fresh Air: Short walks with your baby in a stroller or carrier can

be refreshing for both of you. No need to get fancy – a stroll around the block is perfect.

  2. It Gets Easier: Those early days can be tough, but it will get smoother, we promise! You'll find your rhythm as you learn your baby's cues and needs.

  3. Trust Your Instincts: You know your baby best. If something feels off, don't hesitate to consult your paediatrician or a trusted healthcare provider.

  4. Enjoy the Snuggles: These precious newborn moments fly by. Embrace the snuggles, the milky smell, and the wonder of this tiny human you created. Breathe them in!
